Beauty never gets old

Through the years we have witnessed enduring beauties like Liz Taylor, Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren as well as present day icons like Cindy Crawford, Salma Hayek and Heidi Klum; all of these women recognize the value of giving “good face” throughout the ages, regardless of their own age. Beauty transcends time.
Modern life demands much from us, from the over-achieving student to multi-tasking power women to the do it all super dad…it’s no wonder that more and more people are finding a real need for “spa”ing.
Stress and beauty treatments have been around since Ancient times such as the beauty therapies of Cleopatra’s milk baths. Some believe the word SPA originates from the Belgian town of Spa, known since Roman times for its healing baths. Others believe it is an acronym of the Latin term “Sanitas Per Aquas” (“health through waters”).
None can deny the healthy glow that comes from proper diet, regular exercise, rest, and proper skin care is unmistakable and timeless.
Rejuvenate, Breathe, Be Mindful, Live in Consciousness, Be Present with yourself and your surroundings and Drink Plenty of Water.

Vanessa, your commentary is as beautiful as the women you write about. and by the way Tuesday March 8, 2011 is International Womens’ Day. Let’s all celebrate the women who have touched our lives, have come before us who have made our lives easier and celebrate the joy of being a woman. True beauty emanates from the inside and yes, it’s nice to maintain the face and body that we were born with. Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren and Princess Diana all embody(ied) the inner (espec. in their charity work) and outer layers of beauty (in the way they maintained their bodies). So ladies and guys, moisturize, eat well, go out there and play like Vanessa suggests. Don’t forget to sleep too! Humans need on average about 8 hours of sleep a night although this varies by age. I like the holistic approach that Mayfair has to health and wellness. very nice!
Indeed Sunita, you know what they say… true beauty comes from within. Happy IWD
Vanessa, I hope you will post my comment. Not sure how many people will get to read it though.
The most truly beautiful woman of my time was Mother Teresa. Here’s a quote from her – that exemplifies beauty.
?”Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”
— Mother Teresa
Many people are so concerned about their outward appearance that they neglect the inward in the form of cruelty and negativity toward others (and I truly feel sorry for them). I can’t believe some of the horrible things people do to others and/or say about others (no wonder our world is such a mess). This is NOT beautiful. I made a deliberate effort last year to drop my Ego and give the power of my kindness to others – to treat everyone the same way (male and female).
We should all take time to reflect, look into the mirror that shows what’s really inside…strive for continual improvement and exhibit respectful ways of engaging with others. Don’t be like Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray who stayed young and beautiful while his portrait revealed his monstrous soul!!
Sure I see you on the treadmill, on the tennis courts, on the squash courts – yes you are ‘fit and attractive’ physically…..but are you ‘fit and attractive’ inside, where it really matters?
At Mayfair one of the employees who stands out the most to me as exemplifying the positive things I just described is Squash Pro Barb Cooper. I know that many of us members feel this way. And no, she didn’t pay me to write this!! Ha.
There’s a saying: ‘the scent of roses stays on the hands of the one who gives them away’. Give roses rather than just thorns.
Work on your inner beauty as much as your outer…remember the power of kindness, gratitude and most of all respect. Think of Mother Teresa who gave everything of herself to help those less fortunate – that is true beauty. I wish I could be more like her.
