Always interested in your articles Michael- You have a few good points here and a few not so good one's. I was front row at all of the matches, and to say that the doubles was a "destroy" mission might just be stretching things a bit. 2 tie-breaks and a 3. There were 2 opportunities for Canada to break serve and when presented with a pancake second serve to his FH twice - Daniel missed the return. He would normally have ended the point right there. In his own words it was inexcusable. Otherwise we would have taken that set. Would that have changed the outcome of the match? I don't know and neither do you. I agreed with the decision to play Milos- because I watched Vasek's match on friday where he wasn't playing well, and clutched his shoulder several times. He also called for the trainer to work on his shoulder. It appeared that he was below his normal level of play, and that he had an issue with that shoulder.

I totally agree with your comments and observations. Why popsicle ( I know Pospisil) didn't play with Nestor, especially how well they did against Israel is beyond me. Definately Milos had a bullseyes target on his chest and the French were exploiting his weaknesses. Caught flat footed so often. ( reminded me of me) ha ha. Milos is not a doubles player, at least at that level. I thought the coaching was terrible. And the support from team members in the Dansevich match was disappointing. Milos should have sat the doubles and played the first singles match on sunday. At least that would have given him a days rest and maybe the knee could have been good to go. who knows. The French definately have a tough team but could have been closer if the coaching and decision making were better. At least Dansevich gave it his all but just wasn't good enough.

Hi Mike:

Nice to hear from you. As much as I'd like to think Milos can move into the top 5 in the world - quite honestly i don't see it happening for a few years. I believe he can be a top 12 player - assuming he is injury free - in the coming year but i can't see him cracking the top-10 until he gets more experience playing the big boys of today's game. He also needs to work on his movement and his finishing skills at the net. There is no question he has the best serve in the game today. And with this major weapon - anything is possible.

Hi Mike, I agree fully with your prediction for Roger's return to the Slam winner's circle in 2012. And like you, I predicted at the beginning of last year that he wouldn't win a single Slam (and won some money on this also, ask the Pro's at Parkview;-) ). After the end of last year I am convinced Rog is back!

I would be interested in your opinion on young Raonic. His ex-coach is convinced that if he stayed healthy last year, he would have ended up in the top five. Where do you see him go?

Thanks, Mike

As long as both particpants agree - any tennis balls can be used. If both particpants don't agree then the sanctioned balls must be used.

However, Mayfair ladder rules (and most of us are not 4.5 or better) require a new tin of balls to be opened for each match and the loser takes the opened tin after the match. Should the ladder rules be amended?

Balls will last as long as the bounce is satisfactory. I find the best balls to play with are about 2 weeks old - and have been used for about 2-3 hours.

Wow Michael, I never thought the balls would improve my play as they got older. How long should you play with older balls? Thanks

thx for the break-down of good foods. how does breastmilk for a baby compare to all these foods re enzymes. a family member who was breastfeeding a seemingly healthy baby up til a few wks ago was suddenly, at 9 mos diagnosed with leukodystryophy. they don’t know yet which kind but it is genetic from both parents so i think it may be krabbes. my question is, because this is a lack of an enzyme to break up the protein (lipids) in the white matter of the brain, myelin sheath, does breasmilk have comparable enzymes to all these foods you have on your list. thx ann
