Exploring the World of STEM
Registration
Program Start Date: Tuesday July 14th, 2020
Mayfair Clubs and Logics Academy have teamed up to offer hi-tech, virtual STEM Summer Camps.
Live on Zoom, students will learn how to use code and create games, puzzles and stories with their own illustrations. Students can participate in fun and engaging, age appropriate, two-week programs that run for an hour every Tuesday through Friday in the morning or afternoon or both!
Using our Stem Academy partner’s private Zoom accounts, up to 15 students will join a certified instructor for an interactive and collaborative exchange of lessons, ideas and creations. Each class has a lesson plan and no two classes are the same.
As a Canadian leader in STEM Education, Logics Academy has provided STEM Education for more than a decade and, as a co-developer of curriculum, software and hardware, has now worked in some capacity with more than 3,500 schools across Canada.

CLASS 1 “Artist in You” Learning to Code with Matatalab
Ages 7-9
10:00am – 11:00am
Use the Virtual Matatalab Simulator to code Matatabot and create unique art projects from various shapes to sailboats, family trees and even your own secret message. Code all these pieces of art using number and angle blocks along with repeat loops to help bring your art to life!
CLASS 2 “Story Telling” Learn to Code in Scratch 3.0
Ages 10-14
10:00am – 11:00am
Use computer science to tell fun and interactive stories. Be creative by coding a unique animated story each day. Create a setting and learn how to make your characters talk to each other. Add changes in weather like rain and lightning, different locations, new characters, a narrator and interactive elements. Finally, create a real or imaginary story about you!
CLASS 3 “Adventurer” Coding & Robotics with Dash
Ages 7-9
1:00pm – 2:00pm
Join Dash virtually, one of the world’s greatest explorers! Learn how to program Dash to discover treasure and dodge booby traps using an intuitive graphical coding language. Learn about sequences by creating a travel story. Use loops and if statements to solve puzzles and react to the unexpected. Come put your coding knowledge and adventure training to the ultimate test!
CLASS 4 “Out of this World” Coding & Robotics with Dash
Ages 10-14
1:00pm – 2:00pm
Learn how to use Dash’s intuitive programming language to create patterns, improve estimation skills, test probability, solve mazes, and create music. Learn how to use a simple but powerful programming language to help Dash explore the galaxies! Work your way through astronaut training, travel to distant worlds and discover alien life. Learn the important coding skills known by all NASA computer scientists. Relay your adventure stories back to earth using sequences.
