Member Spotlight – The Woo Family

Physical activity is essential for healthy development and adopting physical activity habits early in life will increase the likelihood of children remaining physically active as adults. Participating in family physical activities helps children gain life skills as well as health benefits. At Mayfair Clubs, we strongly encourage health and fitness to be a family affair!

This month, we would like to share the story of the Woo Family as they are an excellent example of a family who participate together as a family in their fitness activities. The Woo family have been members since 1999 – that’s 23 years! Ben is the father, the mother is Lucy, and they have two children who are also members, Selene (15 years) and Brayden (12 years).

This month, father, Ben Woo was asked to act as Captain to lead Canada’s team at the World Senior Tennis Championships from April 28th – May 6th in the 50-55 age category. Congratulations and please join us in wishing Ben and his teammates good luck in Boca Raton Florida!

The mom, Lucy, plays on the P2 Tennis Team at Mayfair West and is on the courts every week.

Not only that, there are two other reasons to celebrate for the Woo family – their daughter, Selene won her first U16 Provincial Circuit Tournament. Congrats Selene – we are so proud of your accomplishment!

As for Brayden, after 7 years of training with his sister and improving his fitness during the January lockdown earlier this year, Brayden has been invited to attend a USTA-Tennis Canada Developmental Match Camp from May 1st – 8th in Orlando, Florida with 11 other developmental players who were also selected to participate. Good luck to Brayden during this week of training and international match play competition!

All three of these members of the Woo Family play out of the Parkway/East locations and all 3 have played in the Mark Fainblum Elite High Performance program at Mayfair East. If you’d like to learn more about High Performance Tennis at Mayfair Clubs, visit our website.
